Two weeks back, Google launched their Android based mobile phone competing with iPhone and other smart phones. Personally, I did not like that much since it does not provide more features over other phones while in many cases it replicates iPhone’s look and feel.

Youtube is blocked in Kuwait!

In today’s issue of Al-Jareeda newspaper, the Ministry of Communication, who controls the internet in Kuwait, has ordered the main ISPs here to block youtube. The reason behind this as per the official letter (below) was religious. Some clip on youtube (video or audio, does not really make a difference) melodying the Holy Quran with musical instruments which of course against Islam.

Bluntly, this is the most stupid decision I’ve ever heard or read! In one side, they could have contacted youtube to take the clip out , on another; they can not and will never be assured that such clip (or anything something similar to it) will never be uploaded to other sites nor spreaded through emails. such a backwarded mentality..

One long transaction

To bring a house made or a driver to country became a very hectic process lately. It took me the entire day today to complete all entry visa requirements. Half of the time wasted was due to waiting for my turn at a very long queue at each stage of the process, while most the other half of the time spent actually on printing some required papers which could definitely be done and submitted over the Internet. Speaking about the internet, even if such process was automated, people who are behind having the “typists” would loss, thus, preventing as much as possible automating the thing, consequently, the normal person still suffers.

I’ve seen the first few minutes of the serious that narrates the story of Shaikh Mubarak Al-Sabah the 9^th Ruler of the state of Kuwait (1896-1921). This series has been forbidden from being aired in any channel for some reason despite being produced by a Kuwaiti firm! It sounds something that has really been spent hell of a time and efforts on and came up as expected and I’ll be definitely trying to watch the remaining of the serious.
